To My Brothers and Sisters in the Black Christian Community,

Based on national statistics, black voters selected BH Obama over McCain.  That’s not surprising since black voters tend toward the Democratic party in general.  It’s further not surprising since BH Obama is part black himself.

As a Christian watching this campaign unfold, my concern for black Christians was twofold.  First, I was concerned because of the praise, adulation and expectation heaped upon a human being.  Many words ascribed to our Lord Jesus have been used to describe BH Obama which I do not find it reverent to repeat here.  I sincerely pray that you have not uttered blasphemy by ascribing to this man what can only describe the One who died for your sins.

BH Obama is, at basic level, a fallen man with limitations.  He is not your savior.  He never can be.  He never will be.  For blacks, many of whom realistically have no connection to genuine American slavery, to identify with BH Obama as some type of liberation figure out of a slavery they know nothing of is a mockery of the subjugation and suffering which was really endured by countless African slaves two centuries ago.

My second concern for my brothers and sisters in the black Christian community was that they had chosen race over religion, color over confession and political power over the power of the Holy Spirit.  I was saddened but not completely surprised when the likes of TD Jakes and other prominent black leaders in the (supposedly) evangelical or charismatic and Pentecostal communities announced their support of BH Obama.  It was as if they made a conscious decision to set aside holiness, sanctity of life, marital fidelity between one man and one woman all for the sake of a racial undercurrent which had apparently been deeper than their calling all of their lives.

I was reflecting on this yesterday with some friends of mine in another country and observed to them that black churches are not, at basic level, any more spiritual than Hispanic churches or white churches.  They are typically more emotional and expressive in worship than some of the others.  But expressive worship doesn’t mean you are any more grounded in the Word or your commitment to godly principles on a daily basis in your life, your church or your local community — much less does it indicate how you will vote in an election.

Why should this surprise us?  Plenty of ministers have had some hidden sin which was never relinquished which played into the devil’s hand as an ace card during a time of crisis.  If this election serves only to expose a deep undercurrent of racism pervading the black Christian community in order to bring about a true repentance and revival among them, so be it.

For those of you in the black Christian community who had the courage to stand up and say, “BH Obama supports everything that I, as a Christian, oppose,” I applaud you.  You will have your own time of rejection and suffering at the hands of your brethren.  Endure it with patience and meekness.

For those of you in the black Christian community who are willing to look into the lifeless eyes of millions of aborted babies, watch as the homosexual agenda spreads its hold onto your children and grandchildren’s minds and say, “I voted for BH Obama — because he is black,” well, God have mercy on you, your churches and your community.  And may He bring you to a true repentance and understanding of what holiness means.

Before you launch into a diatribe about how “God is not Republican,” I would encourage you to save your breath.  I realize that.  He actually predates the Pharisees and Sadducees.

I just have one question for you.  What would Jesus do — if He were in the voting booth beside yours.  If he had the choice of voting for a candidate who affirms the murder of the innocent baby inside a mother’s womb or voting against that candidate and for one of a few other candidates who are totally opposed to the killing of the unborn, what do you really think He would do?  Hey, would He vote for the abortion supporter if the candidate were Jewish?

When you stand before God on your judgment day, if He allows you to see the bodies of the aborted and you then feel the piercing Word as it probes you by saying, “You voted to perpetuate and defend this practice,” what will you say to Him who sees all and knows all?  “It was about the environment really?”  “He was my black brother?”  “I wanted to see a black president in my lifetime?”

The verse which comes to mind about this election and the abandonment of godly principles for skin color is in Psalm 106:15:

And he gave them their request; but sent leanness into their soul.

The leanness (or thinness) may not be seen immediately.  Adam and Eve died when they ate the fruit, but they kept walking around.  And don’t we all feel the effects of their choice today?!  But you have made a choice as a distinct community which is just as binding a choice as when the Jewish leaders cried out, “His blood be on us — and on our children.”  “Give us Obama,” you cried.

You wanted BH Obama.  And like Israel when they rejected God for a fleshly king, you’ve got him.  When hard times come, and when the leanness in your souls begins to ache, cry out to the leader you have chosen.  See then if he can save you.

If this challenges you or rings a bell, pass it on to someone else.  Print it or e-mail the link to your friends, family and coworkers.

Very good summarization of how the “election” went. It’s a shame when people who are supposed to be Christians vote against everything Christ represents just because of “color.”

Well, sin is colored, too. And “we reap whatever we sow.”

I’ve prayed “God have mercy on us,” over and over. There had to be a spirit of deception at work in this election.

I think your article, overall, is very good. I agree with much of what you have written. However, I have a number of black “Christian”* friends (several of which are some of my best friends). In thinking about sending such an article to blacks (especially friends), it might be better received if the article acknowledged the likelihood that some white “Christians” probably voted for him, too. (I know several that said they would be voting for him). Along that line, the article could have spoken some to the “Christian” community as a whole.

Understanding that you are (as I am) disheartened that people would vote based, in large part (if not entirely), on race, I see the thought behind the article. I do think, however, it might be better received if it catered to “Christians” as a whole. (We all know the sensitivity of some blacks as it relates to “playing the race card” and genuine people/ feelings can be misunderstood if we are not careful how we outline those thoughts/ feelings.

All the best to you and God bless America! Pray for President-elect Obama!

    * Matthew 7:21-23 (NIV) reads, 21″Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?’ 23Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!'” Accordingly, not all who call themselves “Christians” will make it to Heaven (or really are “Christians” — followers of Christ — at all).

I agree with you 100 % but what about the white people who voted for him. People only saw what they wanted to see. Fox news wouldn’t have been able to say all those comments about him Association with Acorn, terrorists,Radicals if they weren’t true there would be slander suits;but I also see it like this if this is God’s will then it must be done to fullfill prophecy;and we shouldn’t question God. We need to refer to our Bibles daily so we are not deceived in the last days False Messiahs who claim to walk in light doing miracles . Read Revelation ask God for understanding. Pray for our leaders. May God make a speedy return. God loves you so do I.
