Over the past twenty years, I’ve heard plenty of moaning about how liberal the media is in this country. Study after study has shown that the majority of print, radio and TV media tend to vote liberal, give money to liberal causes and unabashedly slant their news coverage to discredit what is good and highlight what is bad.
This year in particular, I’ve grown tired of the moaning. I’ve begun praying. In particular, I have begun praying that God will judge the liberal media in this country. I want them to close shop.
I remember hearing a story when I was younger that a group of Christian college students had prayed against a strip club in their area. That particular business burned down. While that can be an effective way of ending a business, the reality is, someone probably got a big insurance check when it was all said and done.
I’d rather hit them where it hurts: the pocketbook.
So, I’ve been praying that the liberal media which has triviliazed brazenly wicked behavior and has mocked what is righteous and good would simply be marginalized, trivialized and (ultimately) shut down.
Call it coincidence of a broken economy, but the past few months I’ve read report after report of these types of things actually happening. Just today, I read about Time Inc.’s “Day of the Ax” where 250 are being cut from their workforce. (You can read about it here.)
Earnings are down. Jobs are being cut. Ad revenue is plummeting. If the Big Three automakers don’t change or get rescued, some media groups may lose as much as near 10% of their advertising revenue in TV and more in some print magazines.
Perhaps reading this disturbs you. Maybe the idea of praying that a business will close because of its affinity with evil seems callous since real people will lose their jobs and be affected. Let me ask you this: do you have a problem with real prostitutes or real strip joint owners or real abortionists losing their jobs? If you do, I encourage you to get past the touchy-feely stage of life and realize that when people support evil, there are consequences to that. Losing a job in this life may be the first step to saving one’s soul for the next.
Will you join me in prayer against the liberal media? Here is a sample prayer for you to pray:
God, I am tired of the evil that has been propagated in my country through the news media. I’m tired of seeing things that you hate being lifted up and seeing your people and your ways mocked and trashed. I repent for my country. I also ask that you judge the businesses and conglomerates which have made this possible. I ask you to close down their sources of revenue. Dry up their streams. Make it impossible for them to continue in the same way that they have. Destroy their influence in this country. I also pray for the people who own or work for these companies that they would turn from evil to righteousness. Teach them to choose your ways. May the printing presses, TV cameras, web servers and radio microphones which have been used for evil be turned around and used for good.
Leave a comment. Also, if you run across articles online which relate to this happening, please link them here.
Great post! Praying that evildoers will not prosper is for the benefit of all. I will join you in praying for the failure of the liberal media.

But those who keep the law strive with them. Prov 28:4 (NAS)
