Today the president elect said that he had not had any conversations with Illinois Governor Bragojevich who was arrested this morning on several charges, including the willingness to sell to the highest bidder the Illinois Senate seat vacated by Obama.

However, back in late November, Obama’s senior advisor David Axelrod appeared on Fox News and stated that Obama and the Governor had talked about the vacancy and had floated several names.

Now, the Obama camp attests that Axelrod misspoke. Axelrod. SENIOR ADVISOR to Barack Obama. Not junior dolly grip. Not an extra in a cast of thousands. SENIOR ADVISOR. Someone who does know what is going on with Obama.

The trail goes back further. ABC News reports that Obama had a lot of involvement in Bragojevich’s campaign for governor in 2002. You can read that story by clicking on this link. He was not an unknown to Obama, a ship passing in the night, as the Obama camp wants to paint it at this juncture.
