Uncivilized Meat Eaters
Categories: Miscellaneous

Found an article about a man who is deeply offended because his neighbor, who hunts deer, is processing the meat in his back yard. (You can read the article here.)

What struck me about this was the quote from the man, Frank Hlatky (or Hladky — it’s spelled both ways in this news article…), in which he states that he doesn’t believe “that any civilized family should have to witness that.”

I wonder how much meat Mr. Hlatky eats? His family?

Our “civilized” meat eaters in this world have lost touch with the reality that meat comes from dead animals. Dead animals have all kinds of smells about them. The butchering process is bloody, gory, and filled with a plethora of sights, sounds and smells.

Frankly, I think every person who eats meat should have to witness the butchering process at some point just to help him or her realize what goes into putting chicken, pork, beef or fish on their plate.

It would sure bring a new appreciation for what goes into making that steak available at the restaurant, or the chicken burrito, or the bacon along with the eggs. Wouldn’t it.

Oh, a suggestion for Mr. Santos Garcia, the neighbor: why don’t you invite the Hlatky family over for a nice meal of venison? It would perhaps open up a new avenue in your neighbor relations. And Mr. Hlatky might even end up wanting to learn how to hunt so he can feed his own family in the future.
