After posting the original article about continuing to receive unwanted mailings from American Bible Society, a gentleman named Joey Pierce apparently was notified of the blog entry and took the time to respond via the comment form.
Joey and I spoke on the phone and had quite a pleasant conversation.
Interesting things I learned during the conversation include:
- ABS has a three year goal to reduce the amount per dollar that it spends on advertising and appeals (they are currently in the middle tier of similar evangelical organizations and want to be in the top/best tier)
- ABS is looking seriously at moving at least some of its communications with donors to electronic format to allow donors to help save money previously allocated to printing and mailing
- Joey said the average donor receives about one mailing per month, so our 3-5 mailings per month was aberrant
I expressed that the best thing I would hope to see come out of the original article and our conversation is that they are indeed able to streamline their systems and processes so that more money goes into delivering Bibles to those who need them.
Kudos to Joey for his responsiveness.
