I’m not Catholic. I’ll presume for a moment that Ron Howard isn’t either. But when I read about Ron Howard’s latest movie “Angels and Demons,” it made me wonder what he has up his sleeve.
In reading just a little bit of the background and storyline of the movie in the news (you can follow this link, it just reminded me of how anti-anything that seems remotely Christian Hollywood is.
Ron seems to think that slamming Christianity in any form is fair game. He believes Catholics should love the movie inherently because of its intrigue or because of its beautiful scenery in Rome.
OK, Ron. I’ve got a challenge for you. Do a film about Islam. Describe the Mohammed as some ravenous blood-thirsty lunatic who eats babies or something wild like that.
The middle East is FULL of beautiful scenery (remember that Babylon’s hanging gardens were one of the seven wonders of the ancient world).
Then you can expect Muslims all over the world to love your film because of the inherent suspense and local beauty. Right?
Do it. See how long you live.
And then you can pray to the Christian God (whose Son you slander) for mercy while your hide is being hunted by fanatic Muslims worldwide.
Who thinks Ron Howard has the guts to take the challenge? I don’t.
Ron Howard’s anti-Christian movies may prove that Christians are more tolerant to those who insult them. Or perhaps it may also prove that most “Christians” are too stupid to know when their faith is being attacked? Christians wouldn’t have to resort to violence to silence people like Ron Howard, Tom Hanks and Dan Brown if they just refused to see the movies and read the books.
Of course, Mr. Howard won’t dare to try to make a movie insulting to Islam.
