If Senator Daniel Akaka has his way, up to 400,000 native Hawaiians will be eligible to take over public lands, be exempt from state taxes and be empowered to create their own sovereign government.

For those who use the grey matter between your ears, it would appear that it’s pretty obvious what happens to ANY city, state or country when 400,000 people can suddenly roll the burden of supporting themselves onto the rest of the population. And we won’t talk about government employees in general, right now…

Does the Senator sincerely believe that this is going to HELP Hawaii or lead to its demise? Who in their right mind would want to stay in Hawaii for the privilege of having to support others who have no obligation to pay for their own upkeep? For that matter, who would stay in California or Florida? Oh, wait, those places ARE losing population due to an exodus over taxation and fiscal issues.

Hand it to Daniel Akaka — this man MAY single-handedly destroy an entire state.
